Frequently Asked Questions
Firstly, you need to download the app on your phone. You can find it on Google Play or the Appstore by the name Energyspeedometer.
Once the app is downloaded, you need to create a profile. Enter your phone number, email and password, then verify yourself with the SMS code you receive. Once that is done, you are ready to add your location (where the EnergySpeedometer will collect data from).
Prior to the next step, you must have had connected your heart rate monitor to the HAN port in the fuse box and let it synchronise for about 10 minutes.
1. Unpack your EnergySpeedometer and connect it to power. When the EnergySpeedometer is turned on, it will download the necessary information and eventually be ready to connect to WiFi. A "WiFi connection error" message may appear, but it should be ready to connect to your WiFi.
2. Go to the home page of the Energyspeedometer app and select "Energyspeedometers".
3. Tap "Add new Energyspeedometer".
4. Press "Pair device"
5. Select the Wifi that the device will connect to and enter the password.
6. Tap "Next". Stay close to the EnergySpeedometer and allow the app to connect with the Energy Speedometer. Once this is done you will see the "Pairing successful" screen. The time and date on your Energy Speedometer should now be up to date. This means that you are now connected to Wifi.
7. After the pairing is successful, press "Next". Here you can name your Energy Speedometer (e.g. Home, Cabin, Kitchen, Second Floor, etc.). You also need to select the location where the Energy Speedometer will collect data from. Select the location you added in the first step and press "Save". After completing this step, it may take up to 1-2 minutes for the Energy Speedometer to start displaying data.
It is very important that you select the location before pressing save. Otherwise the Energy Speedometer will not display any data!
Sometimes error messages (e.g. "No device found", "WiFi connection error", "Lost connection", the Energy Speedometer's screen going black, freezing on the logo) may occur. It is nothing to worry about. Please be patient, wait 30 - 60seconds, and let the Energy Speedometer synchronise, or check for the latest updates. If your Energy Speedometer hangs on an error message for longer than 5 minutes, try unplugging it, waiting 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
1. Make sure there is a HAN port in the Smart Meter and that the port is open. You can check if your gate is open on your electricity network provider's website. If the gate is not open, you can easily open it at the same website.
2. Connect your heart rate monitor (Tibber Pulse or NXT Energy) and wait about 10 minutes for it to synchronise.
3. Download and install the Energy Speedometer app on your smartphone via Google Play or the App Store.
4. Create a user account in the app.
5. Start creating a location by selecting "Add location".
6. Select your HAN device (Integration for multiple HAN devices will be added).
7. If you have the NXTenergy pulse, select it and enter the smart meter number (found on the smart meter) and the serial number of the HAN device ( on the back of the NXTenergy pulse meter). If you have Tibber Pulse, select it and enter your Tibber Pulse username and password (which is the same as your Tibber app username).
9. Give name to your location (e.g. Home, Cabin etc.). Find your municipality to get the spot price (e.g. Oslo, Stavanger etc.). Scroll down and press "Save location".
If you have done this correctly, the app will prepare to receive data from the smart meter/electricity cabinet. This can take anywhere from 2-10 minutes.
Tap on the location on your Home Screen (Image 1) to see real time data from the smart meter (Image 2).
